About
Surrounded from an early age by music of many different styles, Naïma Wanshe quickly revealed a strong sense of rhythm and genuine musical abilities. She entered the Conservatoire de Lausanne at the age of six, initially studying piano before turning to classical singing – first with Stéphanie Burkhard from 2011, then with Delphine Gillot.
In 2023, she performed the role of Madame Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, followed in 2024 by the role of Aline in Les Aventures du Roi Pausole by Arthur Honegger (Théâtre Équilibre Fribourg and Opéra de Lausanne, conducted by Silvina Peruglia). That same year, she was a finalist in the 2024 Nuits Lyriques de Marmande competition in the French art song category and was awarded Third Prize at the 2024 Kattenburg Competition (dir. John Fiore).
In the summer of 2025, she appeared as Laurette in Bizet’s Le Docteur Miracle during the Route Lyrique tour of the Opéra de Lausanne. Beyond opera, in January of the same year, she also sang the soprano solo in Mendelssohn’s Hör mein Bitten at Saint-François Church, under the direction of Nicolas Bouvier.
She is currently performing coloratura soprano opera arias for young audiences at the Grand Théâtre de Genève in the production Abracadabra!. She also regularly takes part in pre-performance talks and apéropéras at the same institution.
In 2025, Naïma Wanshe also gives recitals with pianist Todd Camburn, combining opéra-comique and Romantic repertoire with more contemporary works, including song cycles by Jake Heggie.
